The next season of Sister Wives will not feature Kody Brown and his only remaining wife, Robyn Brown.
The first trailer for season 21 of the TLC reality show dropped on Monday, Sept. 14, and immediately revealed the news that Kody and Robyn have exited the series.
“After 16 years of filming Sister Wives, Kody & Robyn will not be returning to the show,” TLC noted at the start of the trailer. Neither Kody nor Robyn commented in the trailer on their exit.
“I don’t know what it means. I have no idea,” Kody’s ex-wife, Christine Brown Woolley, says in the trailer.
“I was flabbergasted, really, when I got the news,” Janelle Brown says.
“I was actually surprised when I was told that Kody and Robyn weren’t coming back to the show,” Meri Brown adds.

Over the last few years, the Brown family has experienced a series of major shakeups. First, Christine decided to end her spiritual marriage to Kody in 2021 after 25 years and six kids together.
Shortly after, Janelle also split from him after nearly 30 years and six kids together. Meri was the last of the three to call it quits. Both Meri and Janelle have since requested a spiritual release from their church to confirm the spiritual end of their marriages to Kody.
Christine remarried David Woolley in 2023, and Janelle recently announced her new romance with a man named Pete, who will appear in the show’s upcoming season.

Kody’s only remaining wife is Robyn, whom he legally married in 2014 after legally divorcing Meri. Robyn was originally Kody’s fourth wife. She came into the marriage with three children from a previous marriage, whom Kody has since adopted. They also welcomed children Solomon and Ariella after their union.
Kody ended the last season of Sister Wives by going on a self-proclaimed “apology tour” and speaking to all of his exes about his behavior over the past few seasons. At the time, Christine’s new husband, David Woolley, advised Kody to start his apologies with his 18 adult children, many of whom he’s estranged from.
“Any of his experience with his children and any of his advice for me is just something that I’m not interested in at this point because he’s kind of just on the opposite side of this,” Kody said in an aside interview at the time.
Several of Kody’s children have been public, both on social media and on the show, about their decision to go no-contact with their father.
Sister Wives’ new season premieres Sunday, Oct. 4, at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
