Joseph Duggar will be facing off with his in-laws at his upcoming sexual assault trial.

Christina and Gene “Paul” Caldwell, his wife Kendra’s parents, are two of the five witnesses who are set to take the stand for the prosecution during the trial, according to a court notice filed in the case and obtained by PEOPLE.

Those two, along with Det. Thomas Lowe of the Tontitown Police Department and Deputy Sheriff Darrell “Chase” Norris, an investigator with the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, are also set to appear at the Office of the State Attorney in Panama City, Fla., on Sept. 14 so that Joseph’s lawyer, Albert J. Sauline III, can take depositions “for use at trial, and/or for such other purposes as are allowed by law,” the filing states.

The fifth witness expected to take the stand is the girl accusing Joseph of sexual assault.

Duggar entered a not guilty plea back in March at his first court appearance after being charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior.

His bail was set at $600,000 at that time with two conditions: that he have no contact with his accuser and that he have no unsupervised contact with any minors under the age of 18 — including his four young children and two youngest siblings.

A copy of the order later filed by the judge and obtained by PEOPLE stressed that second condition with a handwritten note on the court filing that read: “No unsupervised contact with any minors under 18.”

Joseph unsuccessfully tried to overturn those conditions, but was denied by the judge in both of his attempts.

His accuser, who is now 14, said that she was just 9 years old and on a family vacation in Florida when “several incidents of sexual abuse” allegedly occurred, according to a copy of the affidavit for an arrest warrant filed in the case and obtained by PEOPLE.

Joseph was among the guests on that trip to Panama City Beach, and, per the affidavit, allegedly approached the young girl and “asked [her] to sit on his lap, numerous times.”

At first, Joseph would allegedly “cradle [her] with his arms,” the minor said during her interview, but that started to change over time.

The minor alleged that he would then ask her to “sit on the couch beside [him]” and “cover the parties with a blanket,” according to the affidavit. “Once the parties were covered, the defendant would pull the victim’s dress up and touch the victim’s thighs.”

While this was happening, the young girl said that “[Joseph’s] hand grazed [her] vagina” and his “hand was outside of her underwear,” per the affidavit.

This occurred “several times,” according to the accuser, who described feeling “uncomfortable” and “confused.”

Joseph eventually apologized to the minor and the incidents stopped, but her father approached him almost six years later on March 17, 2026.

The father told police that Joseph had allegedly confessed, at which time the investigation began that resulted in him being charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior.

Joseph is facing a possible life sentence if convicted on both counts.

In the wake of his arrest, a search of his Arkansas home resulted in new charges unrelated to the Florida case.

Both he and his wife Kendra were charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor in the second-degree and four counts of second-degree false imprisonment in an Arkansas court case for which they are set to appear in August.
